Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to prednisolone or its components or other corticosteroids
Acute ocular infections
Do not use ophthalmic prednisolone in patients with acute untreated purulent ocular infections, in most viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva, including herpes simplex keratitis, vaccinia, and varicella, ocular mycobacterial infection, or fungal diseases of ocular structures.
Warnings and precautions
Corneal perforation
Use caution in patients with thin corneal or scleral tissue.
Delayed wound healing, bleb formation
Use caution in patients after cataract surgery.
Drug hypersensitivity reaction
Use caution in patients with possible sulfite hypersensitivity, as prednisolone acetate suspension contains sodium bisulfite.
Exacerbation of glaucoma
Use caution in patients with glaucoma. Monitor intraocular pressure.
Exacerbation of herpes simplex ocular infection
Use caution in patients with a history of ocular herpes simplex.
Glaucoma, cataract, ocular infections
Use caution in patients taking the drug for a prolonged period. Monitor intraocular pressure if prednisolone is used for > 10 days.
