306 patients (255 female, 51 male).
Inclusion criteria: adult patients 1 year after bariatric surgery.
Key exclusion criteria: active suicidal ideation; poorly controlled severe psychiatric illness.
Interventions
N=152 tele-CBT (receipt of 7 sessions of telephone CBT 1 year after bariatric surgery).
N=154 standard care (receipt of standard bariatric care).

No significant difference in total weight loss at 18 months (1.08% vs. 0.86%; AD 0.22%, 95% CI -1.47 to 1.91).
Secondary outcomes
Significant decrease in mean Binge Eating Scale at 18 months (6.48 points vs. 9.11 points; AD -2.63 points, 95% CI -4.19 to -1.07).
Significant decrease in mean Emotional Eating Scale at 18 months (39.69 points vs. 45.34 points; AD -5.65 points, 95% CI -9 to -2.3).
Significant decrease in Generalized Anxiety Disorders 7-item scale at 18 months (2.02 points vs. 3.46 points; AD -1.44 points, 95% CI -2.29 to -0.59).
Conclusion
In adult patients 1 year after bariatric surgery, tele-CBT was not superior to standard care with respect to total weight loss at 18 months.
